life-long experience as a dancer, choreographer
and educator, Diane VanDerhei, has created a
curriculum that develops dance technique while
engaging imaginations and creativity.
STUDIO LIGHT (27G Harrison St., 708-955-4666) Visual artist and writer, Karen Light, has worked with children of all ages on a variety of art projects through Urban Gateways and other organizations. She strives to teach students more about themselves and the world through engaging, creative art-making.
BEAD IN HAND (145 Harrison St.,
708-848-1761) Julia Schaefer, a multi-media
artist, has been running children’s classes and
birthday parties since she started working at
Bead in Hand in 2000. Students will learn age
appropriate beading skills to create unique
beaded objects.

PAMELA PENNEY TEXTILE ARTS (130 Harrison St., 708-785-7782) Textile and fiber artist, Pamela Penney, has been teaching children and adults through Oak Park Park District, District 97 Art Start, Young Artist’s program, and Oak Park Art League. Kids will learn fun techniques to use fabric, yarn and fiber to create a unique textile art piece.
PRODIGY GLASSWORKS (207 Harrison St.,
708-445-8000) Laura Henderson has been working
with fused glass since 2002. Students will learn
fusing fundamentals and make a project that
combines color and texture into a unique glass
piece.
Children will visit 2 different galleries
each day for art lessons and will be transported
between galleries by the instructors. The class
schedule will be sent out a few weeks before
camp starts.
