| ABOUT THE OAK PARK ARTS DISTRICT |
| The Oak Park Arts District has been in existence for
over a decade. This area is located on Harrison Street, and
spans the distance from Ridgeland Avenue to Austin
Boulevard. With a variety of galleries, specialty boutiques
and unique restaurants, in addition to businesses that focus
on the healing arts, this district is a rich, artistic and
cultural shopping destination in Oak Park.

MAKE MOTHER’S DAY GIFTS AT

Friday, May 9 from 5-8 pm
Bead in Hand, located at 145 Harrison St. in the Oak Park
Arts District, is ready to help you make unique,
hand-crafted Mother’s Day gifts.
On Friday, May 9 from 5-8 pm, Bead in Hand staff will
assist dads and their kids to make a gift for mom. Ideas and
supplies for a beaded vase, necklace, bracelet, earrings,
key chain, knitting marker or bookmark will be available.
Gift wrapping will be free!
Eat dinner at the Buzz Café, 905 S. Lombard, for Family

Ridge Art Gallery will host four textile artists: Deb
Herman, Danny Mansmith, Veronique Leriche Fischetti, and
Natividad Amador. Each artist will exhibit 5 significant
pieces, both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional, in the
upcoming show “Fabrics and Fabricators: Four Textile
Artists”. The show will open to the public during the Oak
Park Arts District’s art walk, What’s Blooming on Harrison
on Friday, May 16, 6-10 pm; Saturday, May 17, 12- 8 pm;
Sunday, May 18, 12- 5 pm. |

TEN-WEEK SPRING SESSION AT INUIT DANCE
March 30 - June 7
Registration is going on now for INTUIT's Spring Session
running March 30- June 7. INTUIT offers a wide variety of
dance for children, teens and adults. Children’s classes
begin at age two and follow a developmentally appropriate
curriculum. What’s Blooming at INTUIT May 16-18 features
performances and workshops all weekend long.

BEAD IN HAND SHOWCASES
THREE LOCAL JEWELRY DESIGNERS
Bead in Hand, located at 145 Harrison St. in the Oak Park
Arts District, will be hosting three local jewelry designers
during What’s Blooming on Harrison, Saturday, May 17 &
Sunday, May 18, 12 – 5pm. Lisa Beyer of Literati Design,
Alison Donlan of Wicked Ware and Christine Knox of solo
jewelry designs, will be showcasing their work in front of
Bead in Hand on Saturday and Sunday.
Also at Bead in Hand, on Friday, May 16 from 6-10 pm and
Sunday, May 18 from 12-5 pm, all ages are welcome to make a
beaded vase using a glass vase, wire and beads ($5 per
vase). On Saturday, May 17 from 12-5 pm, all ages are
welcome to make a Beaded Bubble Wand using wire and beads
($5 per wand). Reservations are not necessary.

Summer Art Camp
June 16 - 27, 2008
The Oak Park Arts District will be hosting an Art Camp
this summer from June 16- 27. The 2 week Art Camp
will run Mondays thru Fridays from 9 AM- 11:45 AM.
Children will be broken up into two groups (5-7 yrs. and
8-11 yrs.) and will split their time between 5
participating galleries on Harrison Street: Intuit Dance,
Studio Light, Bead in Hand, Pamela Penney Textile Arts, and
Calypso Moon.
